And at the top of the photo is someone whose career is now set to soar. Johanna Stickland is a 16-year-old who, like Duop, calls Mode home, but books through Giovanni in Toronto/Montréal. Following an impressive first show season she last week booked the Jil Sander Spring '07 campaign. Placed with Women Management in Paris, Stickland is also currently featured as part of a sketch about that agency on Models.com.

Sutherland Men's Manager Laura Virdo fired off an e-mail to Modelresource to let us know one of the agency's top males is in town.
Robyn Sinclair is getting some runway time in for Shan and Harry Rosen, after having recently shot the "Purple Collection" for Polo Ralph Lauren.

Modelresource just returned from 477 Richmond Street, where Elite is packing up the office.
By Monday morning the new space on Britain Street will be set up and open for business.
How many hundreds of faces passed through this space in the past eleven years? How many stories?

A quick update on Lisa Porter, complements of the guy that discovered her.
B&M's Sean Beckingham tells Modelresource the 5'9" redhead is "still kicking it" in Europe, with eight pages in Jeune et Jolie, four in Italian Rolling Stone, a Bourgeois Cosmetics campaign, and another campaign lined up in Budapest next week.
According to Bruce, the 16-year-old (who is placed with Elite in Toronto) spent the summer in Bangkok, where she shot Elle Thailand, Thai Marie Claire, Thai Wallpaper and various campaigns.

When Modelresource posted its recent feature on NAM, one of the points Norwayne Anderson was really hoping would come across is his commitment to building the profile of his women's board to the level his men enjoy.
The timing couldn't be better then, for Models.com to announce its latest Model of the Week is NAM's 5'9", blue-eyed, brunette Szandra Szilvassy.

B&M's Gail McInnes drew Modelresource's attention to this video, directed by well-known Canadian comic and writer Mark McKinney.
Not Pretty, Really is a short film that explores the very real feelings of people that are naturally attractive, and how their appearance affects the way they are treated.
Prominent in the video is someone well known to Modelresource readers; our very own star writer, Robin Buss.
NOTE: As this is an MSN video, you will require Internet Explorer to view it.

moo (left) and ishi
Last week, while Modelresource was consumed with fashion week, it turns out other things were happening in the industry (who knew?).
One of the developments we learned of was that the photography duo of David moo King and Bryan Ishiguru - known collectively as mooishi - are exploring seperate opportunities as of November.
moo tells Modelresource they each "need to grow as individual artists and find our own identity. It's definitely a move forward for both."
Despite much speculation that one or both may be moving to New York, moo says they each are planning on staying in Toronto.

It has been a while since Modelresource presented an agency profile, but this is one that could wait no longer.
Below are other recent images from some of the agency's better known faces.

This photo is the product of a very talented trio.
First, there's photographer Geoff Barrenger who actually manages to capture the essense of a metallic chenille with his camera. That cannot be easy.
Then there's makeup artist Hung Vanngo whose colour palette and application perfects the mood of the photo.
Of course there's the stunning gaze (and facial geometry) of Marla Boehr. I would learn makeup artistry just to work on that face.
This shot is one of a gorgeous new series for the current Marlowe collection.

Michelle Valencourt, Irina Funtikova and MaHa on set at Vervegirl
One of Modelresource's most fun features in recent months, the interactive Live... on set!, returns Sunday morning.
Models from Sutherland, Elite and NAM will be shooting an upcoming issue of Vervegirl at the brand new National Ballet School. This will be the very first magazine shoot inside the facility.
Returning to do the photography is top Canadian photographer Alvaro Goveia, while MaHa will again be styling and David Goveia will work the makeup & hair.
Assuming we can get a good internet connection on site, we'll be going with the same format, whereby readers registered on the Modelresource Discussion Board can participate in the event by asking questions of the participants.
Either way, a full event summary will be available to readers Monday morning.

I really want to show you how great Calgary's Kasey Smith looks these days... and I will before L'Oréal Fashion Week is through. Unfortunately the dude in front of me kept sticking his arm in front of my shots at Thursday's Jason Meyers' show and throwing off my focus. But that 5'10" blurry girl on the left... wow!
I don't want to overstate the difference it makes to have Mode's models in town for fashion week, but there really was a void in last year's schedule when that agency's models stayed home (with the exception of Heather Marks, who was brought in exclusively for Pink Tartan). Along with Smith, Aleisia Arkley and Kim Noseworthy also made beautiful additions to last night's show.
The Mode trio was part of a larger Giovanni contribution as the official agency sponsoring the show. Other standouts were Melissa Molson, Kori Richardson, Sarit, Viktoriya, and Justyna (on the right).
Every season I rave about Justyna's walk, then in the following months think "it can't have been THAT great..." but, then I see her again and I'm speechless until she's out of view.
Jason Meyers is a new Canadian designer and despite this not being part of the official fashion week schedule he got a great turnout - and a great response - to his collection. This is someone you will see a lot more in the future.

One day Clin D'Oeil will be boasting it was the first magazine to feature Paméla Bernier on its cover.
Despite her relative newbie status, it's actually hard to believe this is Bernier's first cover. After all, she's shown up pretty much everywhere else.
Expect to see a lot more of the Gatineau teen in the future, including what should be a strong debut at L'Oréal Fashion Week, which is now just days away.
Be watching for Modelresource's special fashion week preview, which will be online this weekend.

This... is... a girl... that had a baby less than a year ago!
Richelle Dobson, who this website has been rather fond of since it also was just an infant, is having a remarkable comeback to her career.
The image on the left is from Japanese Marie Claire. A quick browse at the top of our collection of Richelle Dobson photos also reveals a special M·A·C ad she did in Japan, and an editorial in the current Elle Québec.
Dobson is currently travelling between Toronto and New York.
We're hoping to see her around L'Oréal Fashion Week.
But it was the crew at Giovanni that first drew Modelresource's attention to the fact Dunstall has captured the cover of Fashion Magazine for the second straight month.
Not hard to see why the girl from Gunn, Alberta is one of the most in-demand models on the planet.
October 5, 2006
The other day, for an upcoming L'Oréal Fashion Week feature, I had an interesting and insightful chat with the head of the Fashion Design Council of Canada. One of Robin Kay's comments that most stuck in my head was "Every model makes or breaks an outfit."
In this writer's opinion, nobody makes a outfit like Niomi Pearson. If there's one dress you want immortalized on the runway, this is the girl the cameras will find.
Yesterday Modelresource learned Pearson, who had previously been committed elsewhere, will be available for this season's shows. With most of the castings already done however, it will be interesting to see where she does appear.
Other Next models we're keeping tabs on are Aitana, who is in her last year of school in Montréal right now... but is still finding time to work between classes (seriously, keep your eye on her), and Adrienne Lenehan, who we first told you about in June. She just shot Flare and Abercrombie & Fitch.
But there's probably nobody Modelresource is following more closely right now than Eva Shaw. The Torontonian spent a busy summer at home, booking Flare, The Look, Lush, Glow and several others.
As much as Modelresource loves bringing you Canandian modelling stories, our favourite tales involve basic humanity.
Recently we received word that Sutherland's Robyn Sinclair was involved in Model Home Project, which is a fashion industry project to help rebuild lives in areas devestated by last year's Hurricane Katrina.
The first build involved 25 top male models, in support of Habitat for Humanity.
