Earlier this week I got a message from Joseph Tenni at Chadwicks in Sydney.

If that name sounds familiar, you may also know it from the 10+ years it's been attached to Hintmag.com's Model Mania page, where Tenni presents the industry's brightest emerging stars.

Tenni tells Modelresource Canada is having a bit of a moment Down Under, with Neelia Moore (Liz Bell) and Jennah Anderson (Richards) arriving in recent weeks.

Spot 6's Nicole Jedrzejko arrives Monday, fulfilling a dream she's held since she was three and had an Australian themed picture book.

Travelling with the 5'9" brunette are these new tearsheets from Biba Magazine, photographed by the legendary Gilles Bensimon.

Specs' Sarah Jordan in today's Metro
For those that haven't heard of Sarah Jordan yet, you likely will soon, so here's a bit of primer.

Originally from the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster (I used to live on the Alberta side of the Border City!), the 19-year-old has been on Specs' roster for two years, but on their radar even longer.

Jordan's older sister also modelled with Specs, and used to tell the bookers "Wait until you see my sister!"

Following a three month stay in Milan late last year, the 5'11" brunette made a big impact at both Montréal's and Toronto's fashion weeks in March.

According to her booker at Specs, Noémie Monic, Jordan has become the muse for designer Helmer, and will be wearing one of his creations at this weekend's Espace Verre show in Montréal.

The photos below are from the Dirrty Glam magazine, shot by Renata Kaveh (www.renatakaveh.com).

Filler Magazine continues to tap into some of this country's best emerging talent, with two more features just released.

Photographer Rayan Ayash, who is quickly becoming one of busier photographers in Toronto, contributed "Lady Droid," featuring Sutherland's Ty States.

The video for "Your Carriage Awaits" features Lydia Nyilasi and new face Clark (both with Next) and was co-directed by Stuart A. McIntyre and Mackenzie Duncan (the same pair that collaborated on "Cazar").

Mikayla
Ford's Mikayla
NEW FACE ALERT

Here's a girl Modelresource is keeping a close eye on.

Mikayla is a 16-year-old from Medicine Hat, Alberta, who was discovered by Toronto photographer (and Calgary ex-pat) Sean Penhall (www.seanpenhallphotography.com).

The 5'10" blue-eyed, blonde tells Modelresource she was a little reluctant at first - as was her Mom - but after a little convincing they decided to give it a shot.

Ford brought her to Toronto for LG Fashion Week in March, and added some photoshoots to her portfolio.

That resulted in Bravo offering a contract to get Mikayla to Tokyo this summer.

Stay tuned...

This is a busy, busy girl.

Kim Cloutier is pulling in a healthy mix of campaign and editorial, keeping the Next model active at home and outside of Canada.

Pictured here is the Montréaler in Victoria's Secret, as well as brand new editions of Red Magazine (U.K.) and Cosmo (U.S.).

Leda & St-Jacques (www.leda-st-jacques.com) meanwhile, photographed Cloutier for Montelle's latest campaign as well as the new Elle Canada.

The Colour of Beauty

Modelresource got an advance peak, Monday, of a new National Film Board of Canada short film featuring NAM's Renee Thompson.

10:00 a.m. Eastern Time (when we're posting this) marks the world premiere of this feature, however a public screening and discussion will take place Sunday, May 16th at 7:00 Pacific Time, at the Museum of Vancouver (www.museumofvancouver.ca), and admission is free.

I've known Renee for a few years, and have my own feelings on race issues in the fashion industry, but I'm curious to know what you think.

If you're one of the nearly 1,800 members of our Facebook Group (not the fan page), feel free to join in on the discussion, but PLEASE keep it civil and be respectful of others' viewpoints.

The NFB is also actively inviting viewership and submissions on the website workforall.nfb.ca and www.schemamag.ca.

Check out the most recent editorial coming in for Next's Crista Cober.

The Southern Ontarian - who now resides in Paris - has been an Editor fave on the other side of the Atlantic, shooting all kinds of beautiful work.

The three series of images below come from Grazia (France), 5 Magazine (Italy) and Wish (Brazil), and all just released in the past week.

Givenchy is making headlines for its use of a transsexual model in its latest campaign (second from right).

Designer Riccardo Tisci apparently made the call, casting his longtime personal assistant Lea T., previously known as Leo.

Not to be lost in this however, are the two Canadian models that also landed the campaign.

On the far left is Mode's Simon Nessman, while Elmer Olsen's Paolo appears far right.

Following on the success of last year's inaugural Strut for a Cure in Barrie, Coco Rocha brings the show to Toronto this year to raise funds for the fight against childhood cancer.

The event takes place Thursday, May 27th at The Berkeley Church featuring the fall 2010 collection of ex-pat designer Todd Lynn, music by Dragonette and Fashion Television's Jeanne Beker doing the emcee duties.

100% of the money raised goes to the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation.

This is a project that has been in the works for a few months, and is just today being released publicly.

Former booker Alexandre de Bellefeuille went back to his Folio roots to develop promotional videos for 21 new faces (as well as one teaser, shown here).

The concept, as relayed to Modelresource:
21 NEW MODELS WALK ONE BY ONE ONTO A SET
NO TOOLS BUT A BLACK JACKET AND THEIR PERSONALITY.
DON'T STRIKE A POSE : SHOW US YOUR MOVES.

(more below)

The series was co-directed by Shayne Laverdière (www.shaynelaverdiere.com), and features hair & makeup by Nicolas Blanchet and Geneviève Lenneville.

In the coming weeks you will be seeing several features written by Modelresource's Men's Editor Matthew Lyn (www.matthewlyn.com) related to the boys' side of the industry.

Look for pieces on James Neate, Alex Loomans, and Loomans' booker Tara Lanoway (Elmer Olsen) in the very near future.

Today, however, we thought we would diverge a bit from Lyn's usual forte and present something strongly on the feminine side, featuring Sutherland's gorgeous Danielle Knudson.

With a face like Justine Paquette's, covers are sure to follow.

The Next model - currently Glow magazine's covergirl - has in recent months also seen her belle visage on the front page of both Marie Claire and Marie France.

Pure's newest issue, which was just released, also features a Paquette beauty story.
