19-year-old Jessica Rock of Nova Scotia was announced this morning as the winner of Nadeau's most recent model search.
Rock will be moving to Toronto at the end of June to begin her modelling career.

Andi Muise by mooishi
Last month Modelresource spent a fantastic afternoon and evening in Barrie, at Michèle Miller's annual model search, chatting with some amazing scouts that travelled from as far as Paris.
An interesting thing about this search though, is that Toronto agencies also show up even though Miller is practically in their backyard.
Lorraine Hartnett, the Director of Toronto's Next Models was one of the people I chatted with that evening, and one of the topics we discussed was how incredible Andi Muise looks.
Apparently I wasn't the only one Hartnett had that discussion with, because this morning Modelresource learned Next will be using its network connections to seek additional opportunities for Muise.
This is obviously a big deal, since Muise's career has skyrocketed in the past two years, including Armani and FCUK campaigns; and appearances in the Victoria's Secret's catalogue and fashion show.

Modelresource is adding another model to our list of Top Canadians.
Ingrid Schram is someone I've been dying to hear more from since I first caught sight of her pictures last year.
Since then she's added a LOT more to her book as the work has piled up, and we're dearly hoping to see her in Toronto sometime soon (where she is placed with Elite).
More about the Kelowna model can be learned from Modelresource's latest model feature, posted this morning.

Jenn Simpson by ALCAN
Ever since I first saw Jenn Simpson on a runway I've been keeping tabs on her. Undoubtedly one of the coolest looking people you'll meet, she brings that coolness to the catwalk. As you can see she brings it on set as well.
Her agent at Nam Models, Aaron Hawco, says Simpson will be sticking around Toronto for the summer, before heading out again in the fall.
Another Nam model, Tarjean (who Modelresource introduced to you a couple weeks ago) is proving to be the success we fully expected. Photographer Miguel Jacob will be shooting with her tomorrow (styling by Tammy Eckenswiller) in an Urban Goth theme that is destined to show up somewhere other the contributors' respective portfolios.
Another top model with some recent great shots is Marla Boehr. Check out the Mode Models website to see what I'm talking about. It's well worth the click.
Boehr just confirmed a cosmetics campaign with Clinique, while fellow Mode star Heather Marks nabbed a Revlon cosmetics campaign.
Finally, if you haven't had enough browsing to get you through your day, flip over to mooishi.com and check out the stunning new images (in the 'Fashion Section') of Giovanni's Amanda Huras, shot for the upcoming Fashion Cares event. Simply gorgeous.
Have a great weekend.

Brandon Mills has certainly been on a roll lately.
The Mode Model's website gives photographic evidence of his Parasuco campaign coverage in New York, while his booker at Toronto's Sutherland Models, Laura Virdo, sent us an update yesterday saying "Brandon opened the Life Fest show in Austria with Naomi Campbell."
Rumour has it Sutherland Models will be conducting a Male Model search in the next month or two. Keep watching for details.

Amy Lalonde & Natalie Brown
Last night the friends and family of B&M's Sarah Kelar got together to celebrate the impending birth of her first child, due in just a few weeks.
Kelar and her husband Michael are high school sweethearts (in fact neither one has ever dated anyone else), and were together for about a decade before tying the knot. Cash (named after Johnny Cash) will be the couple's first child.
Since it was Sarah's night I respected her wish not to have her photo taken, but in a room full of models it's not hard to find others that don't shy away from cameras. Pictured on the left are two my lens just couldn't avoid.
Any heterosexual male with a television will recognize these two without much difficulty. Amy Lalonde (with a cowboy hat in a Molson commercial, current KitKat commercials, host on Scream television network) and Natalie Brown (numerous television roles, but probably most easily recognized from her playful appearances in Bailey's commercials) are both actors, as well as B&M models.
I chatted with the pair for a while last night about the opportunities for actors in Toronto, as well as the challenges they face when they become too well recognized.
Next week they are each flying to New York to audition for the long-running ABC soap opera, All My Children, and Modelresource certainly wishes them well.

Congratulations to Ford's Julie O'Donnell, who is relocating to the New York office as of today.
I ran into the ever-pleasant booker this morning, just three hours before her scheduled departure (and a few hours AFTER her going-away party).
O'Donnell joins the Ford Women division in New York, and becomes the fourth Canadian booker to find herself in the new Manhattan office on Fifth Avenue.

As we mentioned the other day, Modelresource got its start in Alberta a number of years ago.
A generous mining company in Calgary funded the start up of www.modelresource.com, which has done quite well, mostly because of its list of 1,500 agencies around the world.
Now, I'm happy to say, the dot-com site is fully part of the Modelresource Canada family, as the mining company has been paid-in-full and the site has moved on to a different server that will make it easier to maintain and update in the future.
The dot-com site will resemble this one in appearance only. The content (other than the glossary) will be unique for the most part, and will concentrate intially on... well... actually I'm not quite sure yet.
One thing I don't want to do is mimic models.com, a site which is quite phenomenal at what it does and doesn't need a parrot site.
More than anything I belive Modelresource should continue to be what its name implies - a resource for models. That was always the intention and that's where it has always excelled. I'm not about gossip.
The Canadian site will continue to get most of my attention, as I have always believed in this industry and the inclusive, nurturing way in which our models are typically developed.
The key to longevity in modelling is knowledge and that is why the latest development on this site is the restructured Modelling 101 page, to give you a lot more access to a lot more information.
I hope you find it useful.

Modelresource, you may know, got its start in Alberta a number of years ago, before relocating to Toronto in 2001.
You'll understand then, we're less surprised than most when so much amazing young talent comes from that province's small towns.
The latest is Haylee Toner, a 5'9½" 16-year-old that Calgary's Mode Models just placed with Elite in Toronto.
This is a girl we expect to be seeing a lot more.
May 15, 2006
Modelresource's Monday started slowly, so we went through some old e-mail from our friend Alexandre at Folio in Montréal, and grabbed a bunch of photos of stunning Rachel Blais.
Nam's recent string of outstanding new girls shows no signs of stopping.
This latest is 5'10½" Tarjean, whose photos landed in my inbox first thing Sunday morning and impressed me enough that I had to do a weekend update.
Modelresource will be watching for a lot more from this one.
May 12, 2006
One more update from Sutherland to round out a busy week of developments.
This time it's the success of 17-year-old Hannah Blake (mother agency: Mode), who according to booker Brandon Hall "rocked the city with photographers throwing themselves to shoot creatives."

Since she started writing for Modelresource last August, Robin Buss has impressed a lot (and I mean A LOT) of readers with her maturity, dedication and perspective.
As she explored Hong Kong on her first overseas modelling experience, her journal entries not only provided a first look at that market for many, but also gave a realistic account of a working model's life.
Now she's setting out to see what the fashion capital of Milan is all about.
B&M Models announced Thursday afternoon they have signed 5'9" Buss to Look Now Models.
She is scheduled to arrive in Italy at the end of the month, and Modelresource wishes her all the best.

Modelresource is blessed, and I truly mean that, to work with agencies so forthcoming with information. No other country can boast a modelling website so packed with useful information, and that's a huge credit to Canada's agents, bookers and scouts.
Still, we at Modelresource recognize this is a very complex industry, so last summer we started a popular feature that encourged readers to pose questions to subjects not already covered on this site. (Those answers can be seen here).
This year we're doing it again! If there is something you haven't been able to find an answer for, please let us know (e-mail from here). We may post the reply on the site. At the very least we will try to get you an answer.
Please mention in the e-mail where you live, your gender and your age (or the age of your child if you are a parent). This will make it easier to get you a more accurate response.

As Chantale Nadeau's most recent Québec model search nears its finals, the Toronto-based agent has a lot of other reasons to be excited.
This shot of Adrianne Ho (represented in Toronto by Sutherland) is from the most recent Chatelaine issue. The full-time university student got a major international boost earlier this month when she was included in hintmag.com's Model Mania.
Nadeau's own modelling career is still going strong as well. Her bookers at Sutherland hooked her up with the current campaigns for Triumph and Spanner.

Modelresource doesn't normally go out of its way to make birthday announcements, but it's Linda Evangelista turning 41 today.
If you've been around Modelresource for any length of time you'll notice I don't throw around the word "Supermodel" a lot. When talking about Evangelista though, I'm talking about the Supermodel among supermodels.
No model has ever been so revered by photographers, and her runway appearances are legendary. No failed attempts at singing or acting. No public meltdowns. That's a supermodel.
In 2004 Modelresource readers overwhelmingly (and unsurprisingly) voted Evangelista as their favourite Canadian model of all time. The polling was so one-sided in fact, we didn't bother asking again in 2005.
So Happy Birthday, Linda... and thanks for the inspiration.

Sutherland Models has had a lot to get excited about lately, including the response they've received towards Ottawa's Chelsea Passmore.
Modelresource was first made aware of Passmore in March, and we had been waiting since then to see the response to this Barrett Palmer discovery.
Response has been good we're told, as Sutherland is now saying they'll have to share the 6'0" brunette this summer with Specs in Montréal and Marilyn's in New York.

Modelresource is very excited to announce that Next Models' Lydia Nyilasi will be providing readers with updates and insights from her upcoming stay in Europe.
The Hamilton resident leaves tomorrow to see what London, and Models 1 has in store, before moving to Paris where she is placed with Women Management.
Be watching next week for Lydia's first report.

In December Modelresource readers picked Lisa Cant as their current favourite. Well you can't get much more current than this hair!
These images from the most recent Flair arrived in Modelresource's inbox about 30 minutes ago and we couldn't wait to post them.

Sutherland Models is pretty excited to have Mike Lipka in Toronto for a couple months.
The Lethbridge, Alberta native just arrived from New York's Vision NY, where he recently shot the cover and a 12-page editorial for Blink Magazine.

I got talking to my good friend Pat Collins of Images Model Management the other day at the Model and Talent Search Canada event in Toronto.
Collins - aside from running her successful Calgary agency - spends a lot of time travelling, matching up Canadian models with Asian agencies. You can read more about Collins in Modelresource's profile from October 2005.
As we were chatting we got on the subject of Lisa Cant, who has spent her entire career under the direction of Collins (and is placed with Sutherland in Toronto, and Folio in Montréal).
Check out the highlights of Cant's career so far this year!

One thing I've always appreciated about Next: It is very selective and has earned a reputation as a high-end fashion agency - yet it isn't afraid to take a chance on models under 5'9".
The rewards come in the form of the commissions they get from girls like Fanny, who can currently be found on the cover of LOULOU.
The 5'7" beauty recently booked Dior Cosmetics, Greek Vogue and Madame Figaro.
Two of Next's 5'8" girls are finding a lot of work lately too, including Modelresource favourite Sarah Ruba, who we're told is working every day (recent, very visible work includes Urban Outfitters and Aéropostale); and Ruby Brown, who is shooting Dior Cosmetics next week in Paris.
According to Toronto Director Lorraine Hartnett, other Next notables doing big things include Yasmin Warsame, who shot Revlon (print and TV last week), and Kim Clouthier, whose recent work includes Russian Vogue, Citizen K, French Elle, Dutch Glamour, the June cover/editorial of Lush Magazine and an editorial in the current issue of Flare. Wow!

Liis Windischmann has enjoyed a long, successful career as a plus-size model working around the planet. Along with another very successful Ford model, Ashleigh Foster, Windischmann was kind enough to talk to Modelresource recently about a plus-size industry that continues to gain prominence.
That story will be online shortly - in the meantime you can read more about Windischmann in today's Toronto Star.
The 34-year-old will also be presenting a introductory seminar about modelling this month through the Learning Annex. More information, including registration information, can be found here.

Big news from NAM, which continues to match outstanding male models to high profile campaigns.
This one, Sean Biloski, did so with the help of Major Models NYC, with whom he just signed last week.
Immediately Biloski secured first option for the international, in-store, Polo Ralph Lauren underwear campaign. Then yesterday... he booked it!
Not a bad start.

Minor Details' Lee Gallagher at the MTSC agent's panel
Modelresource had a busy end to April. On Saturday morning I made my way to Model and Talent Search Canada's Toronto event. The thing that impresses me most about MTSC is the abundant opportunity to get information from the agents in attendance.
I wrote down a bunch of questions I heard at the agent's panel, and will be posting those, with answers, in the coming week.
Saturday evening I took a quick trip up to IA Management, where Idanna Auger is building something pretty special. Auger, who was scouting at MTSC for two of Paris' top agencies, spent 21 years as a model. She's also an extremely effective runway coach, and has built a small (but growing) roster of models that are thriving under her direction. It was great to see.
On Sunday morning I was back at MTSC, where I sat with Giovanni's Alan Thomas at the open call session (where models were alloted time to be critiqued individually but the various agencies in attendance). I am such a fan of this concept, and congratulate MTSC on providing such an excellent forum for new models to find their way in the industry.
I was happy to get there when I did, to judge the preliminary round along with such scouting stars the International Director of Scouting for the Elite Network, Michaela Goddard (who I interviewed at her hotel in Yorkville following the event), and extremely well-respected Bravo Models' (Tokyo) scout Marcia Rothschild-Moellers.
Miller runs an extremely impressive one-day search, which attracts top scouts from global fashion capitals, and potential models that end up working in all those places.
Congratulations not only to the winners of the event, who you will hear more about in the coming weeks and months, but also to Michèle Miller for pulling together such an amazing event that continues to get better and better.
