Heather Bratton
Heather Bratton
In February, when I started pulling together details for an article about the comeback of the American model, I chose Hilary Rhoda as the subject.

Although I certainly didn't choose poorly, I always regretted not making Heather Bratton part of that same feature.

It has now been made public that 19-year-old Bratton was killed last week when the hired car in which she was travelling was rear-ended by an SUV after breaking down in the centre lane of the New Jersey turnpike.

According to www.fashionweekdaily.com, in the Florida newcomer's first fashion season "Bratton walked for style luminaries like Chanel, Dior, Marc Jacobs, and Prada. She also starred in this season's Balenciaga campaign and was the focus of Steven Meisel's recent cover of Vogue Italia."

Our thoughts are with those close to her.

Next Canada has Scott Barnhill in Canada for the month of August, working between Toronto and Montréal.

According to Toronto Director Lorraine Hartnett, Barnhill "looks fantastic and is available for bookings."

I.A. Management Beach Party
IA Management Beach Party
One year ago former model Idanna Auger started putting into motion a plan to establish her own agency just outside Toronto's city limits. Within months, IA Management was born.

Last week, on a warm summer evening, Auger threw a lakeside party complete with bonfire and beach bodies to celebrate the agency's grand opening.

Among the celebrants were 17-year-old Alana Young, and her 13-year-old sister Samantha - both of whom are repped by IA Management.

According to Auger, the 5'9" older sibling already has offers from Asia and Europe, and will be doing her first job Monday... a music video for Hedley.

Jordan Cameron
Jordan Cameron
B&M Models tells Modelresource Jordan Cameron has returned to Toronto after working in New York City, Milan and Singapore.

Torontonians may recognize Cameron from the last Yorkdale campaign shot by Geoff Barrenger.

In the past six months the 18-year-old P.E.I. native has walked the runway for DKNY and Alexander McQueen, collected editorial from Details and Harper's Bazaar, and shot various other campaigns, editorials and television commercials.

Cameron plans to return to New York in the fall for the Spring 2007 shows.

Lucy Fung
Lucy Fung
If first impressions really do last, Lucy Fung will be loving Toronto for a long time.

The 5'9" mannequin recently relocated from Shanghai, and in her first week with Giovanni has already shot with Flare... twice.

Andrea Muizelaar from Canada's Next Top Model
Andrea Muizelaar, from
Canada's Next Top Model
This is not the girl you think it is.

True, it may look like the insecure girl you saw crying her way though the recent Canada's Next Top Model television reality show, but it's not her.

This is the Andrea Muizelaar that got left behind on the editing room floor - a confident, well-spoken girl with a lot more perspective than you would think.

Since the show wrapped at the end of March, she's been going to a personal trainer to build some muscle, so as not too appear too much like that super-skinny girl from T.V.

Modelresource met with Muizelaar Friday, between her other scheduled appearances. The complete story is coming next week.

Sean Biloski
Sean Biloski
Modelresource dropped by Nam Models Thursday to set in motion the next of our agency profiles.

The agency is renowned for its men's division, which currently boasts two of the top 50 male models (Robyn Sinclair and Milan Krouzil) on Models.com.

Andrew Stetson's Calvin Klien Eurphoria campaign recently launched, while Sean Biloski recently shot the U.S. national Godspeed campaign and look book through his New York rep, Major.

Despite the reputation as a men's agency, owner Norwayne Anderson insists he's focused on building the women's board to be just as powerful.

Watch for Modelresource's full Nam profile in the coming weeks.

Heather Dorssers
Heather Dorssers, from CNTM
A couple weeks ago I stopped by Sutherland Models and was asked by agency owner Ann Sutherland who I thought would win Canada's Next Top Model.

"I dunno anymore," I replied. "I thought it would have been Heather."

This afternoon I was at Sutherland again, arranging an interview with whomever is revealed as the winner tonight, and in popped the 20-year-old Blenheim blonde.

Be watching early next week for Modelresource's interview with the victor of tonight's finale.

Grace, Alana Zimmer, Audrey Gair and Kassandra
Grace, Alana Zimmer,
Audrey Gair and Kassandra
If you've been following Modelresource closely you will remember Alana Zimmer from our Fashion Week coverage, and especially the Pink Tartan preview.

Now the Kitchener model's career is taking off, thanks to a strong push in New York (where she is with Supreme), and a ten page story in Numero, shot by Dan Jackson.

Alana Zimmer

The 18-year-old is currently in London shooting with Jackson again, this time for Self Service magazine.

Other recent work includes an editorial for French, V Magazine with Joe McKenna, Italian Vogue with Inez & Vinoodh, and Flare with mooishi.

According to her agent at Elmer Olsen Models, Ryan Greenwood, Zimmer is also catching the eye of scouts from Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Prada.

Expect to be seeing a lot more from Zimmer in the months and years ahead, as this girl is destined for big, BIG things.

Sara Graham and Irina FUntikova
Sara Graham and Irina Funtikova
The picture on the left was taken this weekend in New York, where Vervegirl editor Sara Graham was meeting with Modelresource favourite Irina Funtikova.

Funtikova, along with Michelle Valencourt (another Modelresource fave), will be guest editors for the magazine's Holiday Glamour Issue.

According to Graham, "Vervegirl is working with Elite to make this issue VERY exciting."

Modelresource will be bringing you a lot more details on this in the months to come.

Vervegirl is a national publication with distribution into high schools across Canada.

Laurie Cadman
Laurie Cadman
Modelresource, as you may have noticed, has been focused lately on giving models a better sense of what to expect in other markets. Today, I need to say thanks to two people helping with that.

Stylus' Laurie Cadman (mother agent: Gemini Models), is currenly working with It's Models in Seoul, and was kind enough to e-mail me some Korean agencies to add to Modelresource.com, which is currently being re-populated.

Cadman also shared some important information about that market. "There are a lot of Brazillian models in Korea... not many Canadians right now. Summer time is also the rainy season for those considering travelling here. Most agencies wil drive you to all castings and jobs because Koreans don't typically speak much English." She also mentioned models "typically travel from 60-90 day contracts and need to be exclusive to the agency for 6 months following. Measurements are pretty much the same as Hong Kong."

Karin McCarthy is an agent at G Models in Milan. She gave Modelresource some insights into the Milano market which we will have online in the next few days.

Thanks to both for their invaluable contributions.

Genevieve Godbout
Genèvieve Godbout,
in Glamour (US)
After an enjoyable vacation in London and Croatia, Folio agent Alexandre de Bellefeuille is back at his desk.

One of his first orders of business: Letting Modelresource know about the success of Genèvieve Godbout and Kaitlyn Vanderkooi.

Kaitlyn Vanderkooi
Kaitlyn Vanderkooi,
for Foxy Jeans
Godbout - who we first told you about in December - can be seen in the current issue of American Glamour.

Vancouver's Vanderkooi (mother agency: Storm) meanwhile, is in the new Foxy Jeans campaign, and is another Canadian to keep your eyes on.

Adam Ward and Willow
Adam Ward, with Willow
at Fashion Cares
When Nam's Willow gave Modelresource her amazing Fashion Cares story last month, the piece included a photo of the beautiful young blonde with one of Nam's male models.

Now it's Adam Ward's time in the spotlight, thanks to Models.com which has made the 18-year-old its most recent Model of the Week.

6'0" Ward is in New York this summer, where he is working through Wilhelmina.

Owen Steuart
Owen Steuart
The last couple of years have seen a major rise in the fortunes of models from Canada's western-most province. Coco Rocha, Bobbi Wiens, Michelle McCallum and Ingrid Schram have all seen their careers explode in that time.

Another British Columbia success story you should know about is Allen International's Owen Steuart, who is currently ranked #45 on the Models.com list of top male models.

A former swimmer, this 6'1" Okanagan boy has campaigns running right now for both Missoni and Gap (with Hilary Rhoda), a Nautica Jeans one on the way, and made several appearances on the runways of Milan a couple weeks ago.

Kat
Kat
CALGARY, JUNE 16, 2006: I'm at the Mode International office to interview their most recent model search winner.

While waiting for her to arrive, a massive casting is going on featuring four scouts and a throng of amazing young talent.

One model, Kat, stuck in my head because of the way she absolutely "turned on" when Elite's Matti Gidilevich aimed his digital camera in her direction. The girl leaves an impression.

TORONTO, JULY 10, 2006: I learned Kat will be in town later this week, working through Elite, and is scheduled to shoot Aritzia.

Pamela Bernier
Pamela Bernier
Two weeks ago Modelresource told you about Pamela Bernier's recent shoot with RK Stores... the photo on the right will give you an idea why this 15-year-old is in such demand.

Fellow Sutherland model Jae Brickman meanwhile, departs Saturday for Singapore. The 18-year-old leaves with some stunning new material in her book.

And B&M Models tells Modelresource that Lisa Porter - who we told you about last week - has been placed with Success in Paris.

Julia Stone
Julia Stone
A few weeks ago Modelresource announced Julia Stone's arrival in Toronto, where she is working through Next Models.

This long weekend, while persevering through humidex warnings and unrelenting sun, I'm listening to Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" and looking at a Julia Stone photo story on the mooishi website.

If you've seen the video featuring a young, punishingly beautiful Helena Christensen you'll understand why the mooishi story has my head as hazy as the Toronto air.

Check out the entire mood-provoking story in the "Beauty" section, at www.mooishi.com
