Susana Hong

Sofi, Taryn & Sarra (Elmer Olsen)
Hair & Makeup: Susana Hong

Styling: Susie Sheffman
Who is she? Hair and makeup artist Susana Hong recognized her fascination with hair and makeup when she started giving her Barbie dolls makeovers with markers and kitchen scissors.

The formerly shy artist credits the industry as the reason she gained her self-assurance. Surrounded among the industry's most creative and unique personalities she realized how much hard work is involved in capturing a single moment.

Her warmth and natural confidence has landed her spots on FashionTelevision, Star! and ETalk Daily as an on-camera beauty expert where she has shared her expert tips of the trade - which is frequently called upon by many of Canada's top fashion editors.

The Plutino Group artist's celebrity clientele includes Sex and the City's Kim Catrall, top model Coco Rocha, Grey's Anatomy actor Sandra Oh, Kid Rock, Peter Krause and the cast of Canada's Next Top Model Cycle One.

Her work has appeared in the pages of Harper's Bazaar Thailand, FASHION, FLARE, FQ and Strut magazines and in advertising campaigns for Dove, P&G, Mikhael Kale and Pink Tartan.

Works with models for: Editorials, advertising campaigns, designer look books, fashion shows, and television shows.

What she looks for in a model? Facial symmetry and nice full brows. Good skin and hair is a bonus.

What turns her off to a model? Bad attitudes and models who could care less about the job. Not every job is glamorous and fun - it's more often than not very hard work. I'm very kind and empathetic towards models and appreciate their hard work so please don't huff and puff just because a particular job is hard.

Hair & Makeup Tip: Being pre-groomed really helps. Grow your eyebrows in!! Ladies - wax those moustaches. Exfoliate - baking soda is wonderful and great for sensitive skins as well. Don't forget to always wear sunscreen, ladies and gents! And NO nail, cuticle, or lip biting!
